Webinar on the international databases on biosafety hosted by FAO in collaboration with UNEP-CBD and OECD
Invitation and Practical Information
12th November 2014
Objective and Scope of Webinar
Different countries conduct risk assessments on GMOs prior to their release in the environment and their use in food or feed. What are their experiences with risk assessment of GMOs? And what conclusions and decisions are derived from them? Different international organizations facilitate platforms where information on GM risk assessment can be shared.
A webinar will be organized that provides an overview on the resources on biosafety that are available on the internet. The webinar will describe the scope and content of the FAO GM Foods Platform, the Biosafety Clearing House (BCH) maintained by UNEP-CBD and the Biotrack database of OECD.
The webinar will be interactive, allowing participants to ask questions and engage in discussions. The webinar will be broadcasted in two different sessions, to enable global participation over different time zones. A certificate will be provided to attending participants.
